The flag conveys an idea of defiance and with its popularity in football as an identification of support and allegiance, yet visually the power of the Union Jack gives it permanence and an identity. The frenzied construction suggests a subculture - this anarchistic feeling is present in the central crest; what could be mistaken for the monarch’s golden crown is actually a knuckle-duster.
